The wood for this bowl was taken from a beech log that had sat out in the weather for 3 years. It had become mildly spalted.. The wood was rough turned, flooded with a hardening oil (Tung Oil) and then finish turned and sanded. Minor voids in the rim and base of the bowl were stabilized with a mixture of azurite and coffee inlay. The wood was then buffed to create a lustrous food-safe finish.
